Join us for a pre-opening walk of the newest spur of the Cynwyd Heritage Trail. The Pencoyd Trail, set to open June 1, is rich in history and has its own beauty and charm. Learn about the Pencoyd Iron Works industry that once thrived in this area and walk what will soon be a new bike and pedestrian-friendly trail that connects Lower Merion to Manayunk. The walk will be led by the Township’s very own Chris Leswing, Assistant Director of Building and Planning. Join us for a drink in Manayunk after the walk!

The Great Depression and WWII brought about many changes, including the need for new affordable housing. Throughout the past century, several notable houses and estates of the Main Line have been lost to make way for new development. Among some of the most notable: Percival Roberts’ Penshurst; Alexander Cassatt’s Cheswold; and Archibald Barklie’s Inver House. Still others have survived and found new uses as schools, clubs, and retirement communities. Join us as we step back in time to uncover the lost history of these magnificent homes. Enjoy a wine and cheese reception.
