In 2002, the Conservancy partnered with the Bryn Mawr College’s School of Social Work and Lower Merion Township to create Lower Merion’s first streambank stabilization project using some funds from DEP’s Growing Greener program.  Steep, crumbling streambanks, deteriorating bridges and excessive flooding brought the partnership together to find a solution.  Stream banks were smoothed, extra bridges removed and extensive native plantings were established to stop erosion and soak up water before it flooded downstream. The native plantings now attract wildlife and create a more natural streamside setting.
