Façade Easements

The Conservancy uses Façade Easements to permanently protect historic properties in Lower Merion and Narberth. It’s fundamentally a deed restriction that preserves the exterior view of a property.  The Conservancy agrees to uphold and enforce the easement in perpetuity (i.e. we “hold” the easement) and the homeowner gives up the right to change the building’s facade.

The Conservancy currently holds two façade easements.  One is with the Beechwood House on The Shipley School campus in Bryn Mawr and the other is Egbert Mill in Gladwyne.  If you are interested in how you might protect your historic home with us, please contact us.
