West Mill Creek Park

Old Gulph Rd, Penn Valley, PA

On the heels of a 2005 wetland planting in the park, the Conservancy partnered with Lower Merion Township in 2007 to secure DEP Growing Greener Funds to stabilize the stream banks in the park.  Volunteers from Main Line Health participating in the United Way Day of Caring installed 600 native trees and shrubs to knit the stream banks together.  This site also includes a cross vein to reduce pressure on stream banks and keep silt and cold oxygenated water in the center of the stream.  It also includes a few stretches of branch layering plantings that have rooted in well to stabilize the stream banks.
