Historic Preservation

Lower Merion and Narberth contain a diversity of “historic resources” that is exceptional. Representing myriad styles, types, and uses, and spread out over an area of approximately 25 square miles, these resources, which range from isolated buildings, to established neighborhoods, to traditional main streets, to stretches of stone walls, to historic street signs, to cultural landscapes, chronicle more than hundreds of years of development history in the Township and Borough.

Whether vernacular or exceptional in their design and quality, these resources lend our community its unique sense of place and its distinctive character. Through its Historic Preservation work – which includes novel research, public outreach, advocacy, and community collaboration – the Conservancy is committed to understanding, celebrating, and protecting these resources.
