Maurine McGeehan
Maurine McGeehan, the Conservancy’s Executive Director, joined our staff in 2008 as Development Director, later becoming the Director of Development and Finance. As Executive Director, Maurine oversees the Conservancy’s water quality work with our regional and local partners, including the William Penn Foundation and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. Maurine is also responsible for managing the Conservancy’s easement program. Maurine has worked as the Development Coordinator for The Nature Conservancy in Arlington, VA and the Membership Director at Clean Air Council in Philadelphia. Kathleen Abplanalp
Kathleen Abplanalp is the Director of Historic Preservation at the Lower Merion Conservancy. Prior to her current position, Kathleen was a board member on the Conservancy. Kathleen has a Ph.D. in American history with a concentration in material culture. Her work experience includes preservation advocacy, drafting historic district nominations, historical and architectural surveys, and Historic Structures Reports. She is past vice-chair of the Lower Merion Historical Architectural Review Board and has been active in preservation-initiatives aimed at protecting historic resources. Tom Clark
Tom Clark, the Conservation Director, started working at the Conservancy in July 2015. His tasks include sharing stormwater and planting advice, monitoring the Conservancy’s conservation easements and Lower Merion Township’s preservation areas, editing the website, assisting with grant writing and reporting, helping to manage projects, inspecting stormwater outfalls for the Township, and planting native plants. Kat Hassinger
Kat Hassinger joined the Conservancy in September 2019 as the new Director of Development. With her background in public relations and communications, Kat is excited to grow the Conservancy’s community through sponsorships and membership. Prior to joining the Conservancy, Kat worked for The Garden Media Group, Channel 10 and EF Education. In her free time, Kat is an avid gardener and painter. Kat’s email address is [email protected].
Alex Hood
Alex Hood is the Lead Financial Officer. He helps to manage the Conservancy’s sustainability initiatives by exploring opportunities in Lower Merion and Narberth for the Conservancy to be involved in municipal sustainability efforts. Candice Jeffries
Candice Jeffries, the Communications Director at the Conservancy, has long been an advocate of getting children and adults into the outdoors. She graduated from Temple University with a B.A. in Visual Anthropology and has been volunteering her time doing community art events, neighborhood clean ups, and and nature outreach in Philadelphia for over 10 years. In her free time, she runs a small nature-inspired jewelry company, The Whitman Fox. Her email address is [email protected].
